Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra

Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra
Concerto Competition

GNOYO participants are invited to participate in the Eleventh Annual GNOYO Concerto Competition, to be held on Sunday, January 13. The Philharmonia division winner will perform with GNOYO on the March 8 concert and the Symphony division winner will perform with GNOYO on the May 10 concert. Participants should prepare one Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestramovement of a concerto or short piece, which has an orchestral accompaniment. Music chosen must be readily available. If music chosen has orchestra parts and scores excessive in price to purchase or rent, a portion of the cost must be borne by winner. (Most standard repertoire is not excessive in price.) The competition will have two divisions - Philharmonia and Symphony - with one winner from each orchestra. A panel of five judges will select the winners.

The application fee is $25 per applicant per audition. To apply, download the application (in PDF format) and return with the required signatures and the $25 application fee to the address below. The deadline for submitting applications is January 5, 2008. Contact GNOYO for information or clarification concerning competition policies, including cost and/or availability of parts.
