On Saturday, April 19, GNOYO Symphony members enjoyed working with Dr.
William LaRue Jones, one of the most active and versatile symphonic
conductors in America today.
Once again, over 160 members of the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra
(GNOYO) are ready to dazzle audience members with their renditions of
classics such as Beethoven's 5th Symphony and Offenbach's Orpheus in
the Underworld.
In the fall of 2007, GNOYO and Loyola University's College of Music and
Fine Arts entered into collaboration. Both organizations are looking
forward to this opportunity to maximize resources in order to provide
quality music education in New Orleans.
Twenty-two year old GNOYO alumna and former concertmaster Jenna Sherry was recently named a 2008 Marshall Scholar. Considered one of the most esteemed awards for American undergraduates, the program funds two years of advanced study at any university in the United Kingdom.
On Sunday, November 4, the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra made its 2007-2008 season debut. With over 160 musicians in 3 ensembles, musical excitement filled the Greater Covington Center.
